Fresh Cherry Pie

(Very good Hungarian)

½ c.         1 Block Butter + small amount to butter pan
8 oz        1 c. Powdered Sugar  - divided ½ + ½
6 eggs     Separated
1 c.+3tbsp    Fine Bread Crumbs
1-1 ½ lb    Bing Cherries-pitted into halves

Beat soften butter and ½ of sugar with egg yolks till fluffy and airy.

In another bowl, beat egg whites and ½ sugar til stiff.  Fold alternately beaten egg whites and crumbs into yolk mixture.

Stir lightly - fold in.  Pour dough into 9X13 pan.  Cover with cherries, press lightly into dough.  Bake in preheated oven 350 for 25-30 minutes.  Cool in pan.
